How indoor environmental quality affects occupants’ cognitive functions: A systematic review

Cognitive functions refer to the set of brain-based skills execute tasks various difficulty levels. As people spend substantial time indoors, indoor environmental quality (IEQ) influences occupants’ cognitive and consequently their learning work performance. Previous studies have commonly examined effects IEQ on integrated or performance, rather than specific skills. The present review decomposes into five factors—indoor air quality, thermal environment, lighting, noise, non-light visual factors. It divided cognition categories—attention, perception, memory, language function, higher order skills—to better understand relationship between cognition.
